OPHA Scholarships Available

OPHA's special interest sections have scholarships available that cover membership dues and/or registration to the 2020 Virtual OPHA Annual Conference held on October 12-13. See details below on our scholarships available now. Other sections may be offering additional scholarships, so check back soon.

Nursing Section

Deadline: Midnight, October 8, 2020
The Nursing Section is offering one student nurse and one registered nurse a scholarship to the virtual OPHA CONFERENCE 2020. These scholarships will be awarded to those who have a keen interest in public health nursing and want to be actively involved in the Nursing Section.

Scholarship Details:
The scholarship covers registration to the 2020 OPHA Annual Conference held virtually on October 12-13, 2020. Included with the registration is a one-year OPHA membership.

Application Process:
To apply, submit a 1-page essay describing experience and interests within nursing and public health to the Nursing Section by midnight October 8, 2020.

What is the Nursing Section?
A forum for all those interested in nursing and public health to come together, support each other, and advance the public’s health.

Health Education & Promotion Section

Deadline: Friday, September 25th

The Oregon Public Health Association (OPHA) Health Education & Promotion (HEP) Section is offering scholarships for current OPHA HEP Section members to attend OPHA’s 76th Annual Virtual Conference and Meeting. These scholarships provide opportunities for public health professionals and students to participate in the professional education and leadership development activities this conference offers. This scholarship will reimburse recipients up to $125 for conference registration at the member early bird rate, upon completion of the events.


  • Current active member of OPHA and HEP Section, to join visit www.oregonpublichealth.org
  • Reside in one of the five OPHA regions
  • Be employed in the public health field, a student in the public health field, or a graduate of a public health program seeking employment in the field.
  • If an applicant meets all of the above eligibility criteria, conference speakers who are in need of a scholarship will be granted priority.

  • Brief Narrative answering:
    • Would you be able to attend the conference without the aid of the scholarship?
    • How do you plan to incorporate what you will gain from the conference into your work or schooling?
    • If you are a conference speaker, please list your presentation title and narrative.

Awardees Must Agree to:

  • Provide proof of conference attendance (Scholarships will be disbursed following conference attendance.),
  • Provide receipt of payment for the conference
  • Complete a brief one-page summary and evaluation of the conference (details to be provided upon award)

Eligible Regions (1 scholarship will be awarded per region):

  • If applications are not received from some of the regions, scholarships can go to applicants in other regions who meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Region 1 - Multnomah County
  • Region 2 (Southwestern Oregon) - Coos, Curry, Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, and Lane Counties
  • Region 3 (Northwestern Oregon) - Clatsop, Columbia, Lincoln, Tillamook, Washington, and Yamhill Counties
  • Region 4 (Eastern Oregon) - Baker, Crook, Deschutes, Gilliam, Grant, Harney, Jefferson, Klamath, Lake, Malheur, Morrow, Sherman, Umatilla, Union, Wallowa, Wasco, and Wheeler Counties
  • Region 5 (Valley) - Benton, Clackamas, Hood River, Linn, Marion, and Polk Counties
