Disability Special Interest Section Scholarship

The OPHA Disability Section is offering up to four conference scholarships to those who demonstrate involvement and commitment to disability justice, health, and/or advocacy. The scholarship covers registration and travel (as needed) to OPHA’s 80th Annual Conference and Meeting and includes a year of free OPHA membership. This year’s conference is October 7 and 8, in Corvallis, Oregon.

Who Can Apply

To be eligible, applicants must meet one of the three eligibility requirements:

1. Demonstrated commitment to issues affecting the health of people with disabilities.
2. Currently enrolled in a relevant academic program, working in a related public health or disability services role, or involved in relevant volunteer or advocacy work.
3. Active involvement in public health projects, research, or advocacy.

To Apply

To apply for a scholarship, please submit an application by September 20. The application includes a personal statement (up to 500 words) about experiences and interests related to disability and public health and requests information about why the applicant would like to attend the conference. Please include a current resume or curriculum vitae (CV).

OPHA Special Interest Sections are like a coalition; members from different organizations come together to work towards a common goal. The Disability Section aims to raise awareness of health disparities experienced by people with disabilities and advocate for policies that promote inclusion and access to health for all individuals.
